Consolacion, Cebu – Cansaga Bay has been recognized as a Key Biodiversity Area (KBA), which means it contributes significantly to the global persistence of biodiversity in terrestrial, freshwater and marine ecosystems. It has provided shelter for diverse marine life and livelihood for many fisherfolks in Cebu for the longest time.

The Consolacion Seafront Reclamation, if pursued, will deprive the citizens not only of their livelihood but will also create tremendous irreversible effects to the marine environment and increase our vulnerability to the impacts of climate change.

Given the ongoing health crisis, where food and income opportunities are scarce, it is inhumane to deprive the citizens of their only source of income, especially when doing so would also be disastrous to the environment.
